Researchers of the CATEC and the University of Seville receive an international prize for UAv applications
Researchers of the University of Seville and the Centre for Advanced Aerospace Technology (FADA-CATEC) received the prize for the best project presented at the IEEE International Workshop on Safety, Security and Rescue Robotics 2010 held in Bremen, entitled "Applications of Unmanned Systems for Search and Rescue Operations.”
This project directed by the Professor of the University of Seville and scientific director of CATEC, Anibal Ollero, presented the applications of a fleet of Unmanned Aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the detection, monitoring and surveillance of persons and vehicles on the ground. This is one of a number of awards which have recently been granted to this research team for its work on UAVs, including the European EUROP-EUROn Technology Transfer Award 2010 last March and the prize for the best research project presented at the IEEE Workshop on Robotics 2010, held in Portugal in the same month.
This reflects the high standard of the work by Andalusian researchers in the field of UAVs, given that four of the last five projects headed by Professor Anibal Ollero have achieved national and international awards.
